Alto Vista Chapel

Open daily during daylight hours.

Admission: Free
Tuesday Mass: 5:30 PM

One of the few tourist stops where everybody lowers their voice.

Built in 1952 on the site of Aruba's first Catholic church, originally established in 1750, Alto Vista Chapel sits among cactus, trade winds, and a surprising amount of silence. It isn't large, and most visitors aren't here for long. Yet it has remained one of Aruba's most visited landmarks for decades. Tour buses stop here daily, but the place somehow stays calm. Some people spend five minutes taking a photo and moving on. Others sit quietly for a while before continuing toward California Lighthouse or Arikok National Park. Either way, most Aruba itineraries seem to find their way here eventually.
